Shippp terms and what they mean in the generated code.

The words you will meet in Shippp and in these docs, in alphabetical order.

TermMeaning
BreakpointA screen width where the design changes (Mobile, Tablet, Desktop…). Stored as a token; up to five per file.
Change setA group of edits an AI client applies at once — all or nothing — and can revert later.
Code readyScreens in a section marked Select for dev. The default input for exports and AI clients.
Code targetThe stack generated code uses: Next.js + Chakra UI, Next.js + Base UI or Next.js + Radix.
ComponentA reusable piece of UI with a main component, variants and instances.
ContainerA box that holds other layers. With Layout turned on it becomes a smart layout.
Effect styleA saved combination of shadows and blurs.
Fill / Hug / FixedSizing modes: take available space, wrap the content, or keep an exact size.
FoundationsThe tab where you manage tokens, text styles, effects and breakpoints.
Ignore smart layoutTakes one layer out of its parent's flow so it can be positioned freely.
InstanceA placed copy of a component. Local changes are overrides.
MCPModel Context Protocol — the open standard that lets AI clients use Shippp tools.
MCP unitThe measure of MCP usage. Reads cost little, full generations more.
Output formatWhat an export contains: a Next.js project, single screens or a design system.
Preview linkA public, view-only link to your screens, optionally with a password and expiry.
Primitive tokenA raw value in your palette or scale, such as gray/900.
ReceiptA file recording which design version and settings produced a piece of code.
SectionA group of screens that are the same page at different breakpoints.
ScreenA top-level frame — one page of your product at one width.
Semantic tokenA token with meaning (Text/Primary, Gutter) that points at a primitive and can vary per breakpoint.
SlotA named part of a component (Label, Icon). Comes from layer names.
Smart layoutAutomatic vertical, horizontal or grid arrangement of children — flexbox and grid in code.
StudioThe grid that shows every variant of a component, where you add and edit properties.
Text styleA named, optionally responsive set of typography values.
VariantOne combination of a component's property values, for example Size = Compact.
VersionA named, saved state of a file you can restore — and generate code from.
WorkspaceYour team's space for files, members and billing.
